Embark on a hands-on journey into the wonders of our nearest star at this year’s Kids Science Workshop at the Brewery!

Designed for children aged 6+, this interactive session dives into the fascinating science of the sun. Kids will explore how solar energy works and discover the powerful forces behind solar flares and sunspots.

Led by Mark “AstroPunk” Iscaro, young scientists will take part in an exciting solar oven experiment—learning how to harness the sun’s energy to create heat using simple materials.

We’re also thrilled to welcome Michael Andre Phillips from Siding Spring Observatory, who will be bringing along a specialised solar telescope. Conditions permitting, kids may even get the chance to safely view real sunspots and solar activity—an unforgettable experience!

This isn’t just a lesson—it’s a creative, hands-on adventure that sparks curiosity, builds problem solving skills, and brings science to life.

Important: Kids will need to bring a cereal box (similar to the one in the photo) and a pair of scissors for the solar oven activity.

Includes: A solar science workshop, a kids pizza and a soft drink. Please advise of any allergies during the booking process. Solar oven experiment includes chocolate and marshmallows (supplied).
