Michael Andre Phillips
Michael Andre Phillips
Deep Space Stargazer and Science Communicator
Michael Phillips fled to Sydney in 1981, immediately before a police raid on his Christchurch hideout.
.
Finding only honest work available in Sydney he then relocated to South Australia, completing a degree in Physics at the University of Adelaide (Hons I, 1982). Due to an unfortunate development concerning a young lady, when he needed to hastily and secretly leave town, he stowed away aboard a ship which was bound for the Australian Antarctic Base of Mawson, where he became marooned for all of 1984.
.
Upon his return to Australia, and needing to lay low to avoid his creditors, he completed a Ph.D. In Atmospheric Physics (U. Adelaide, 1990). When his creditors finally did locate him, he again fled the country, this time laying low in Arctic Canada for several years and working in the field of Upper Atmospheric Physics.
.
Following an Interpol tip-off, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police promptly ‘got their man’ and escorted him to the border, whereupon he mysteriously washed up at the British Antarctic Base of Halley, where he worked his passage for all of 1995.
Few of his creditors and criminal associates suspect he’s back in Australia, which is why he’s keeping his head down in the western NSW town of Coonabarabran, working only during hours of darkness, guiding the giant Anglo Australian Telescope (AAT) through the night. Between AAT shifts he has worked to set up a new hideout located in Colombo, Sri Lanka, with an mysterious woman who goes by the name San. It’s hard to say what they’re up to, but it surely can’t be good.
